ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
satgur maylay day vadi-aa-ee.
The True Guru brings Union, and grants glorious greatness.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥
satgur kee sayvaa Dhur furmaa-ee.
The Primal Lord ordained service to the True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
satgur sayvay taa naam paa-ay naamay hee sukh paa-idaa. ||6||
Serving the True Guru, the Naam is obtained. Through the Naam, one finds peace. ||6||

The True Guru brings me home and lifts me up. Serving the True Guru was set into the very design of things from the start.
When I serve the True Guru, I receive the Naam, and in the Naam I find peace.
Serving the Guru is what you were made for.
Service to the Guru was ordained dhur — from the primal beginning, woven into the design of things. The reward is Naam, and through Naam, peace. Service here is not servitude but alignment with one's deepest nature.
