Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 124
Verse 12 of 16

When the Same Body Chases Shadows

ayhu sareer sabh mool hai maa-i-aa.
This body is the source of all Maya;
doojai bhaa-ay bharam bhulaa-i-aa.
in love with duality, it is deluded by doubt.
It does not remember the Lord, and suffers in eternal pain. Without remembering the Lord, it suffers in pain. ||12||

In plain words

This same body can also become a place where clinging takes over, and we get tangled in this-and-that and lose our way in doubt.

When the One is forgotten, an ache settles in. But the very same body can turn and remember — and then the ache begins to ease.

The same heart that forgets can turn and remember.
The deeper layer

The body can become the root of Maya when love turns to duality. Forgetting the One brings an ache, and the same body that forgets can turn and remember, and the ache eases.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you turn back when you notice you have drifted?
