ik kit aa-ay janam gavaa-ay.
Some merely waste away their lives - why have they even come into the world?
manmukh laagay doojai bhaa-ay.
The self-willed manmukhs are attached to the love of duality.
ayh vaylaa fir haath na aavai pag khisi-ai pachhutaa-idaa. ||6||
This opportunity shall not into their hands again; their foot slips, and they come to regret and repent. ||6||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Some let their days drift away without ever tasting what they came for. When we get pulled into this-and-that, it is easy to lose our footing.
This human life is a precious chance — so precious that it is worth turning toward the One today, gently, before the day slips by.
This day is too precious to let slip by unlived.
Ayh vaylaa fir haath na aavai: this moment will not come into your hands again. A life pulled two ways loses its footing; the day is precious, and the turn toward the One can happen now.
A Question to Sit With
What is one thing you do not want this day to pass without?
