Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 130
Verse 11 of 16

Saver of Worlds, Close as Breath

ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
khand barahmand uDhaaranhaaraa.
He is the Savior of worlds and galaxies.
ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹ ਅਗੰਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
ooch athaah agamm apaaraa.
He is lofty, unfathomable, inaccessible and infinite.
jis no kirpaa karay parabh apnee so jan tiseh Dhi-aa-ee hay. ||11||
That humble being, unto whom God grants His Grace, meditates on Him. ||11||

In plain words

The One lifts up whole worlds and galaxies — high beyond reach, deep beyond measure.

And yet, the moment grace touches someone, that same vast One becomes the near thing they hold in mind.

The One who lifts whole galaxies becomes the near thing grace lets you hold.
The deeper layer

Khand barahmand uDhaaranhaaraa means the One saves whole worlds and galaxies. Ooch athaah agamm apaaraa: high, too deep to measure, out of reach and without end. Think of looking up at the night sky and trying to count every star. That is how big the One is.

Yet jis no kirpaa karay prabh apnee so jan tiseh Dhi-aa-ee hay: the person who receives kirpaa, grace, keeps that One in mind.

Grace is the bridge. It links that huge vastness to one small, loving heart.

A Question to Sit With

How can something be huge beyond measure and close at the same time?
