Please Stay Home With Me

Dhan karai bin-o do-oo kar jorai.
With her palms pressed together, the bride offers her prayer,
pari-a pardays na jaahu vashu ghar morai.
"O my beloved, do not leave me and go to foreign lands; please stay here with me.
aisaa banaj karahu garih bheetar jit utrai bhookh pi-aasaa hay. ||4||
Do such business within our home, that my hunger and thirst may be relieved."||4||

In plain words

With hands folded, the body pleads: do not wander off to faraway places — stay here with me.

Let us do the one kind of work, right here at home, that will ease this hunger and thirst.

The work that ends the deep hunger is done right here, inside your own home.
The deeper layer

dhan karai bin-o — the body prays with folded hands. The counsel aisaa banaj karahu garih bheetar means: do the true inner work (remembrance) within your own home and self — that is what relieves the deep hunger. A householder framing: the answer is found right where you live.

A Question to Sit With

What work of the heart could you do right where you are?
