The Same One, High and Low

The Guru has revealed the Lord everywhere.

The high and the low are all the same to Him. Focus your mind's meditation intuitively on Him. ||6||

In plain words

The Guru has shown me the One in every place.

The Master of the world fills the water and the land.

High and low are all the same to the One. Let your mind rest on the One, easily and naturally.

High and low are all the same to the One who fills every place.
The deeper layer

The One is everywhere, and treats high and low the same.

The Guru opens our eyes, and suddenly we see the One in every place. Jal thal poor rahi-aa gosaa-ee: "the Lord of the world fills the water and the land."

Then comes a leveling line. Ooch oon sabh ayk samaanaaN: high and low are all the same to the One. Every ladder of rank that people build, rich and poor, important and ordinary, disappears.

Think of sunlight on a playground. It does not shine brighter on the tall kids or the popular kids. It falls on everyone the same.

As this sinks in, the mind settles into sahj Dhi-aanaa. Sahj means easy and natural, and Dhi-aan means quiet attention. It is a calm that comes without forcing.

A Question to Sit With

What would change if you saw no one as higher or lower than you?
