Verse 5 of 15

Carried Across

jaa kee Dhoor karay puneetaa.
The dust of His feet purifies.
sur nar dayv na paavahi meetaa.
Even the angelic beings and gods cannot obtain it, O friend.
sat purakh satgur parmaysar jis bhaytat paar paraa-inaa. ||5||
The True Guru is the True Primal Being, the Transcendent Lord God; meeting with Him, one is carried across to the other side. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The dust of the Guru's feet makes a heart clean and bright.

Even angels and gods cannot get it, my friend.

The True Guru is the True Being, the Highest One — meeting the Guru, a person is carried across to the far shore.

Meeting the True Guru carries you across to the far shore.
The deeper layer

Even the dust — the humblest touch — of the Guru purifies. It is so precious that even gods and angels cannot simply take it. The True Guru is the sat purakh, the true timeless Being; meeting the Guru, one is carried paar, across to the far shore.

A Question to Sit With

What feels precious precisely because it cannot be grabbed or bought?
