Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 142
Verse 3 of 16

No Fear of Endings

charan kamal sarnaa-ee aa-i-aa.
I have come to the Sanctuary of His lotus feet.
saaDhsang hai har jas gaa-i-aa.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I sing the Praises of the Lord.
janam maran sabh dookh nivaaray jap har har bha-o nahee kaal kaa. ||3||
I have erased all the pains of birth and death; meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, I have no fear of death. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have come to rest in the shelter of the One.

In the Sangat I sing the praises of the One.

The pains of being born and dying are all cleared away; remembering the One, I have no fear of death.

Fear of endings loosens its grip when you feel held.
The deeper layer

Sangat and simran quiet 'janam maran', the pains of birth and death. 'Bha-o nahee kaal kaa': the fear of death is gone, through shelter and song.

SaaDhsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel calm when something is coming to an end?
