Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 142
Verse 6 of 16

Beginning, Middle, and End

ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
aad ant maDh parabh so-ee.
God exists in the beginning, in the middle and in the end.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
aapay kartaa karay so ho-ee.
Whatever the Creator Lord Himself does, comes to pass.
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਤੇ ਦਾਲਿਦ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਘਾਲਕਾ ॥੬॥
bharam bha-o miti-aa saaDhsang tay daalid na ko-ee ghaalkaa. ||6||
Doubt and fear are erased, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and then one is not afflicted by deadly pain. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One is there at the start, all the way through, and at the finish.

Whatever the Maker sets in motion is what comes to be.

In the Sangat, doubt and fear wash away, and no deep pain can take hold.

The One is not just at the finish line; it walks the whole way with you.
The deeper layer

'Aad ant madh' (beginning, middle, end) frames a life fully companioned by the One. Sangat dissolves 'bharam bhau' (doubt and fear); and 'daalid', deep pain, finds nothing to hold on to.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that felt better simply because you were not alone in it?
