In plain words

When the Guru's Word is understood, deep inside is a quiet devotion worth more than any harsh discipline.

Remembering the Name, pride and confusion fall away.

The inner self brims with sweetness, and those who taste it grow fearless, satisfied, and no longer troubled by the fear of endings.

The sweetness within, once tasted, makes a heart fearless.
The deeper layer

The seventeenth Pauree (||17||). 'Meditation and austere self-discipline' live deep within, and remembering the Naam dissolves ego. Those who taste the inner nectar (amrit) become fearless (nirbhau), satisfied at the source, and death no longer troubles them.
