Dress yourself in the Praise of the Lord. Forever and ever, it is radiant and bright; it is never polluted.
I have intuitively earned the true wealth, which never decreases.
dayhee no sabad seegaar hai jit sadaa sadaa sukh ho-ay.
The body is adorned with the Shabad, and is at peace forever and ever.
naanak gurmukh bujhee-ai jis no aap vikhaalay so-ay. ||2||
O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Lord, who reveals Himself. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In plain words
The One who made the world tenderly takes care of it; remember that One, for there is no other.
So make your daily food the Word and goodness, and you will stay satisfied.
Wear the Praise of the One like clothing, bright and never stained, and let the Naam be the true wealth you have quietly earned.
Nanak says: the one who faces the Guru comes to know the One, who reveals Himself.
Feed on goodness and wear praise, and you are clothed and fed for good.
The deeper layer
A shalok of the Third Mehl echoing Guru Amar Das's famous image of Truth as food, clothing and home. Here the Shabad and goodness are the food, and the Praise of the One is the clothing, a whole life clothed and fed by the divine. The body itself becomes adorned and at peace through the Word.
