maa-i-aa saath na chal-ee ki-aa laptaavahi anDh.
Maya and its wealth shall not go along with you, so why do you cling to it - are you blind?

Meditate on the Guru's Feet, and the bonds of Maya shall be cut away from you. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The shiny wealth of the world will not travel with you, so why hold to it as if it could?

There is more to see than the surface promises.

Rest at the Guru's feet, and the ties that bind you to mere things quietly fall away.

What cannot follow you is not worth being bound by.
The deeper layer

A shalok of the Fifth Mehl. Maya cannot travel with us, so clinging to it is a kind of blindness; there is more to see. Humbly resting at the Guru's feet cuts the bonds of attachment, and freedom comes through devotion.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you hold tightly that might be lighter to let go of?
