O Nanak, as He Himself makes us dance, we dance. ||22||1|| Sudh||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One creates all this, watches over it with love, and is wholly True.

By the One's sweet will, the one who faces the Guru is joined to the One, and through the Guru's Word we are blended into the One.

There is one Master of everyone, and we are all quietly asking at that same door. Nanak says: as the One moves us, we dance.

We are all asking at one door, and moved by one hand, we dance.
The deeper layer

The closing Pauree (||22||1|| Sudh) of the Vaar. The One creates, sustains, and unites the Gurmukh with the One. 'As He Himself makes us dance, we dance': a joyful surrender, all beings 'beggars of Him', moved by one loving hand. 'Sudh' marks the Vaar as complete and correct.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to move with the music instead of against it?
