Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

If You asked me for everything, I would give it — my whole self, holding nothing back.

My eyes keep searching for You. When will I finally see You?

Love holds nothing back.
The deeper layer

The Vaar opens with Ik Onkar, the one Oneness, received through the grace of the Guru. These opening love-songs are Dakhanay shaloks, tender verses in the old southern (Multani) dialect. The image of giving one's head is not about harm at all; it is the language of total love — I would keep nothing back from You.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you would give your whole heart to?
