The evil person is engrossed in the love of duality; through the disease of egotism, he suffers separation.
ਸਜਣੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੀਚੈ ਭੋਗੁ ॥੩॥
sajan sachaa paatisaahu jis mil keechai bhog. ||3||
The True Lord King is my friend; meeting with Him, I am so happy. ||3||

In plain words

When a heart chases two things at once, it feels torn and alone.

But the True King is my Friend, and meeting Him makes me so happy.

Being pulled two ways aches; meeting the True Friend makes you whole.
The deeper layer

'Duality' is loving the One and the illusion of a separate self at the same time; that split is a disease — ego (haumai, the feeling of being cut off from everything). It is a sickness to heal, not a crime. Meeting the Friend heals it.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt torn between two things you wanted?
