In the early hours of the morning, chant the Name of God, and meditate on the Feet of the Guru.

The filth of birth and death is erased, singing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the fresh, early hours, sing the Name and rest your mind at the Guru's feet.

The heavy dust of coming and going washes away in that quiet praise.

A quiet morning song can wash the heaviness off a heart.
The deeper layer

A Dakhanay shalok. Amrit vela again — the still hours before the day begins. Singing the True One's praise in those hours lifts the heavy dust of coming and going from a restless, wandering mind.

A Question to Sit With

What is a calm way you could start your morning?
