Wherever someone is speaking and hearing the Name of my Beloved,
that is exactly where I want to be. Nanak says: I go there to see the One, and I blossom with joy.
When you love someone, you want to be where people are talking about them.
This is a Dakhanay shalok, a short verse in a southern Punjabi way of speaking. Jithai ko-ay kathann naa-o — wherever someone speaks the Name of my Beloved, that is where I go.
Think of a fan who hears their favorite team being talked about across the playground. They drift over to join in. It happens on its own, out of love.
The heart that loves the One looks for the place where the One is remembered. Being there makes the soul bloom. Hari-o thee-os means to turn green and fresh, like a plant after rain.
Where do you feel most yourself and most alive?
