In plain words

The ponds brim over, the fields are green, and a cool wind blows.

A bed of gold and jewels, fine clothes and rich food — and still, Nanak says, without the Beloved, the heart feels the cold and aches for the One.

No amount of comfort warms a heart that is missing its love.
The deeper layer

A Dakhanay shalok. Even amid every comfort and beauty, the heart without its Beloved feels a chill. That ache is longing, and riches cannot warm a lonely heart.

A Question to Sit With

When have you had everything you needed but still felt something missing?
