The downpour from the clouds is heavy; O Nanak, the soul-brides are exalted and embellished with their Beloved. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: the lightning flashes and the thunder rolls in the dark rain-clouds.

The rain pours down full and generous — and hearts open wide, glad and radiant with their Beloved.

Grace can pour down like a long-awaited rain.
The deeper layer

A Dakhanay shalok using the monsoon, the long-awaited rain that ends the dry season, as a picture of grace pouring down. The waiting heart, like the parched earth, blossoms when the downpour finally comes.

A Question to Sit With

What have you waited a long time for that finally came?
