Raag Maaroo, The Word Of Kabir Jee:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਪਡੀਆ ਕਵਨ ਕੁਮਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

O Pandit, O religious scholar, in what foul thoughts are you engaged?
bood-hugay parvaar sakal si-o raam na japahu abhaagay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
You shall be drowned, along with your family, if you do not meditate on the Lord, you unfortunate person. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.
Learned one, what wrong thinking has caught hold of your mind?
Unlucky friend, if you do not remember the One, you and your whole family will be swept away.
Learning the words is not the same as living them.
A direct question to a learned person sits at the heart of the whole shabad, in the Rahau (pause) line. 'Bood-hugay parvaar sakal si-o' warns of being drowned along with the whole family: a picture of a life swept away. Study is good; knowledge that is never lived cannot hold you up.
A Question to Sit With
What is something you know is true but have not yet let reach your heart?
