Without You, there is nothing at all; Nanak chants Your Glorious Praises. ||23||1||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In plain words
Your worth cannot be measured, O true and unmoving One.
Not the wisest seekers or deepest meditators can take Your measure; You shape and reshape everything, giving life to all, speaking through every heart.
You feed every creature — so why should anyone waver? Without You there is nothing at all, and Nanak sings Your praises.
The One who feeds every creature is beyond all measuring.
The deeper layer
The Vaar closes the way it opened, in awe. The One is beyond measure, the maker and remaker of all, the voice in every heart, the feeder of every creature. The last word is not fear but praise: 'without You there is nothing at all.' The closing numerals mark the Vaar complete.
A Question to Sit With
What fills you with wonder that is simply too big to measure?
