Where the One Lives, Pain Cannot Settle

mehlaa 5.
Fifth Mehl:
jis man vasai paarbarahm nikat na aavai peer.
Pain does not even approach that person, within whose mind God abides.
bhukh tikh tis na vi-aapa-ee jam nahee aavai neer. ||3||
Hunger and thirst do not affect him, and the Messenger of Death does not approach him. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

No pain can settle in the heart where the One has made a home.

Hunger and thirst lose their grip there, and even the fear of endings cannot come near.

A heart with the One at home has a shelter nothing can enter.
The deeper layer

A Dakhanay shalok. A heart with the One at home is sheltered at its core — outer troubles may come, but they find nowhere to take root. Even death's messenger keeps its distance, and the fear of endings finds no way in.

A Question to Sit With

What is your safe place when things feel hard?
