Like drops of water in the water of the ocean, and like waves in the stream, I merge in the Lord.

Merging my being into the Absolute Being of God, I have become impartial and transparent, like the air. ||1||

In plain words

Like a drop of water slipping back into the sea, like a wave folding into the stream, I flow back into the One.

And something in me grows clear and even, treating everything the same, light and open as the air.

You are a drop that was always made of the ocean.
The deeper layer

The self goes back into the One like a drop into the sea.

Udak samund salal kee saakhi-aa — like water in the water of the ocean. Nadee tarang samaavhigay — like waves in a stream, I will blend back in. This is Kabir's picture of the self going home to its Source.

Think of a drop of rain falling into a lake. You cannot find it afterward. It did not disappear. It became the lake.

Sunneh sunn mili-aa — the stillness joins the great Stillness. Sunn means the deep, quiet ground under everything, beyond all shapes. Samadrasee means seeing everyone with an equal eye. Pavan roop means becoming like the air. Air is clear and open, and it touches everyone the same way.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to remember that you are part of something much larger than yourself?
