Pure Within, at Peace

ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨੁ ਤਬੈ ਲਗੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥

People talk of salvation and being saved, as long as they do not understand the essence of reality.

I have now become pure within my heart, says Kabir, and my mind is pleased and appeased. ||2||5||

In plain words

People talk about being saved and carried across, only until they understand what is true at the core.

Kabir says: now my heart has grown pure inside, and my mind is at peace.

Once you see what is true, the mind stops searching and rests.
The deeper layer

Taaran taran tabai lag kahee-ai jab lag tat na jaani-aa: people talk about being carried across only until they know the tat. Tat means the essence, what is true at the core. It is like training wheels. You talk about them all the time, until one day you can just ride.

Once you see what is real, ab ta-o bimal bha-ay ghat hee meh: you become pure right inside your own heart.

Kahi Kabeer man maani-aa: Kabir says his mind is at peace. Man maani-aa means the mind agrees and settles deep inside. It is more than just believing something.

A Question to Sit With

What is a truth that, once you understood it, made you feel calmer inside?
