Whoever follows the Guru's Teachings and joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is called the most devoted of the devotees. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Who has ever remembered the Sovereign One and not been carried across?

Whoever follows the Guru's teaching and joins the Sangat is called a devotee among devotees.

Whoever remembers the One is carried across.
The deeper layer

Who has ever loved the Naam and been left behind? No one.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the song. Raajaa raam japat ko ko na tari-o: remembering the Sovereign One, who has not been carried across? No one. Everyone who did it was saved.

The path is simple. Gur updays: follow the Guru's teaching. Saadh kee sangat: join the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Think of a group of friends who make you kinder just by being around them.

Anyone can walk this path. Birth and status do not matter. Whoever walks it is called bhagat bhagat, a devotee among devotees.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people whose company makes your heart feel bigger?
