In plain words

For the sake of His devotee, the Lord took the form of the man-lion and destroyed the cruel king Harnaakhash.

Namdev says: the Lord is held by the love of His devotees. He stands at King Bal's door even now.

Love strong enough to love the One is never left unprotected.
The deeper layer

The One protects those who love Him, and is even held by their love.

The old story tells of Prahlaad, a boy who loved the One. His father, the proud king Harnaakhash, was cruel to him for it. Bhagat hayt: for the sake of His devotee, the One took the form of Narsingh, half man and half lion, and stopped the king. The point is not the fight. The point is that love like that is never left alone.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

Then comes the wonder at the end. Bhagat bas kaysav: Kaysav, the Lord with beautiful hair, is in the hands of His devotees. The all-powerful One is held by love. He still stands at King Bal's door, even now. Think of a strong grandfather who can lift anything, yet does whatever his tiny grandchild asks. Love holds even the boundless One.

A Question to Sit With

Who has stood between you and danger the way love does?
