Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Look for the people whose lives are steeped in truth; they are rare and precious.

Time with them leaves your own face glowing, warm and bright.

With them, the Naam rises easily on your lips.

The people you keep near quietly shape the person you become.
The deeper layer

Sach ratay, those dyed in Truth, are rare in this world. Nearness to them makes one's own face radiant (mukh ujlaa): character rubs off; we grow bright in the light of the bright.

When such people gather, they are the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Choosing whom you keep near is choosing who you become.

A Question to Sit With

Who in your life makes you want to be your best, truest self?
