In this age, the Naam is the greatest treasure, and it carries devoted hearts across.
Naam Dayv, Jai Dayv, Kabir, Trilochan and Ravi Daas the leather-worker: all their faults were washed away.
Those who hold to the Naam through the Guru are carried across, and every wrong is washed off.
The Naam wipes out the ranks the world puts on people.
Kaljug is the old name for this age, a time when it is easy to forget what matters. In this age, the verse says, the Name is the greatest treasure.
Then it lists some of the Bhagats. The Bhagats are holy poets whose songs sit right beside the Gurus' in the Guru Granth Sahib. Naam Dayv was a cloth-printer. Kabir was a weaver. Ravi Daas worked with leather. In their time, many people looked down on families who did such work.
The verse says the Name washed away all their faults. Their faults were not punished. They were washed off, the way you rinse mud from your hands.
Think of a school choir. Nobody asks what your parents do for a living. What matters is that you are singing.
The Name is the same. It does not care what rank the world gives you. It cares that you hold it with love.
Have you ever seen someone judged unfairly for where they came from?
