Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 25
Verse 5 of 6

One Pure Maker in Everyone

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
sabh meh ayk niranjan kartaa.
The One Pure Creator Lord is in all.
ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਚਲਤਾ ॥
sabh kar kar vaykhai apnay chaltaa.
He stages all His wondrous plays, and watches them.
jis har raakhai tis ka-un maarai jis kartaa aap chhadaa-ee jee-o. ||4||
Who can kill that person, whom the Lord has saved? The Creator Lord Himself delivers him. ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

One pure Maker lives inside all; He sets the whole play in motion and watches it unfold.

Who could harm the one the One keeps safe? He Himself sets them free.

The same One shines inside everyone - and keeps safe whoever it holds.
The deeper layer

One pure Maker lives in everyone, and keeps safe the ones He protects.

Sabh meh ayk niranjan kartaa: in all there is one niranjan Maker. Niranjan means pure, with no stain at all. That same Maker sets the whole world going and watches it, like a writer watching their play from the side of the stage.

Then comes a strong question. Jis har raakhai tis ka-un maarai: who can harm the one the One protects? The answer is no one. The Maker Himself sets that person free.

So the same pure light is inside you, your friends, and even people you have never met.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you notice the same spark of life in different people?
