Even the Wise and the Seekers Stand in Awe

ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥
dayhDhaar ar dayvaa darpahi siDh saaDhik dar mu-i-aa.
The embodied and the divine beings abide in the Fear of God. The Siddhas and seekers die in the Fear of God.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh mar mar janmay fir fir jonee jo-i-aa. ||2||
The 8.4 millions species of beings die, and die again, and are born over and over again. They are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||

In plain words

Bodies and bright beings, seekers and sages - all move in awe of the One.

Countless kinds of living things come and go, life after life, turning like a great wheel.

The great wheel of life turns within one quiet awe.
The deeper layer

Every kind of being, even the holy ones, moves in awe of the One.

People with bodies, bright heavenly beings, siDh and saaDhik all live in awe. SiDh are wise ones said to have special powers, and saaDhik are seekers on the path.

Then the verse widens out. Lakh cha-oraaseeh means "eight million, four hundred thousand." It is the old number for every kind of living thing on earth. They are born and pass on, life after life.

Think of a big Ferris wheel. The cars go up, come down and go round again. The wheel keeps turning, and every car is carried by it.

The picture here is not meant as a threat. It is a great wheel, turning inside the One's order, with every living thing held in it.

A Question to Sit With

What does the turning of seasons and lives make you wonder about?
