Setting Down Pride, I Found Joy

ti-aagi-o saglaa maan mahtaa daas rayn sarnaa-ay.
Abandoning all pride and self-importance, I have sought the Sanctuary of the dust of the feet of the Lord's slave.
kaho naanak har mil bha-ay aikai mahaa anand sukh paa-ay. ||4||3||
Says Nanak, meeting with the Lord, I have become one with Him; I have found supreme bliss and peace. ||4||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I set down all my pride and self-importance and took the humble place.

Nanak says: meeting the One, I became one with Him, and found the deepest joy and peace.

Setting down pride is where the deepest joy begins.
The deeper layer

Setting down pride and taking the dust-of-the-feet place (daas rayn), the heart meets the One and finds supreme bliss. Nanak's signature closes it.

A Question to Sit With

When has letting go of being right or being big made you feel lighter?
