Who can I tell about what is happening deep in my soul?
Where can I find someone already free, who can bring me to the One?
Who can I talk to about what is going on deep inside me?
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Jee-a kee kai peh baat kahaa — "Who can I tell about the state of my soul?"
The speaker is not looking for just anyone. They want someone who is already free. Aap mukat mo ka-o parabh maylay — "someone free themselves, who can bring me to God."
The idea is simple. Only someone who is free can help another person become free. Think of learning to swim. You would not ask someone who cannot swim to teach you. You look for someone who is already at home in the water. They can hold you up until you learn.
Who in your life feels free and at peace?
