Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 58
Verse 2 of 5

The One Who Washes Us Clean

keetaa jiso hovai paapaaN malo Dhovai so simrahu parDhaan hay. ||2||
His actions alone come to pass; He washes off the filth of sins. Meditate in remembrance on that Supreme Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Whatever the One sets in motion comes to be, and the One gently washes away whatever weighs us down.

Keep that highest One in your remembering.

The One gently washes away whatever weighs us down.
The deeper layer

Keetaa jiso hovai means whatever the One does comes to be. PaapaaN malo Dhovai: the One washes away the dirt of wrongdoing. Wrongdoing is like mud on our shoes that weighs us down. The One gently washes it off.

So the verse says so simrahu: keep remembering that highest One. To remember God with love is called simran. It is like keeping your favorite person's number at the top of your phone.

A Question to Sit With

What would you love to feel washed clean of?
