In plain words

The One watches over everyone who loves, keeping them safe.

The saints live by remembering the One — it is the very support of their breath.

Nanak says: the Almighty Master is the Cause of all causes, and I give myself gladly to that One.

Those who love live by remembering, breath by breath.
The deeper layer

The One is raakhanhaaraa, the protector of those who love the One. Sant jeeveh jap: the saints live by remembering the One. That remembering is paraan aDhaaraa, the support of their very breath. It is as close and as needed as breathing.

The One is karan kaaran, the Cause behind every cause, able to do all things. Guru Arjan ends with a bow: Nanak tis kurbaan. Kurbaan means offering yourself gladly, with love.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you keep close with every breath?
