You are eternal; You do not grow old. All others pass away.

naam rasaa-in bhaa-ay lai parhar dukh bhaaree. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who lovingly focuses on the Naam, the source of nectar - his pains are taken away. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You never grow old, and You never die; everything else passes away.

Hold the Naam, the source of nectar, with love, and heavy pain is taken away.

Love resting on what never fades lifts the heaviest weight.
The deeper layer

Too ajraavar amar means You never grow old and never die. Everything else is chaalanhaaree, passing away. Toys wear out and seasons change. The One stays.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line that holds the whole song together.

Then: naam rasaa-in bhaa-ay lai. Rasaa-in means a source of sweet nectar. Whoever holds the Name with love has even heavy pain lifted away. It is like a cool drink on a hot day that washes the tiredness right out of you.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that feels steady to you when everything else is changing?
