satguroo hai bohithaa sabad langhaavanhaar.
The True Guru is the boat; the Word of the Shabad will carry them across.
tithai pavan na paavko naa jal naa aakaar.
There is neither wind nor fire, neither water nor form there.
tithai sachaa sach naa-ay bhavjal taaranhaar. ||2||
The True Name of the True Lord is there; it carries them across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Guru is a strong boat, and the Word carries me safely across.
In that place there is no storm: no wind, no fire, no flood, nothing to fear. There is only the True Name, carrying me gently to the other side.
The Guru is a boat where no storm can reach you.
The satguru is the bohithaa, the ship, and the shabad is the ferry. The place beyond wind, fire, and water is the still ground of the Name, untouched by turmoil, which carries one across the world-ocean.
