DhanDhai Dhaavat jag baaDhi-aa naa boojhai veechaar.
The world is chasing after worldly affairs; caught and bound, it does not understand contemplative meditation.
jaman maran visaari-aa manmukh mugaDh gavaar.
The foolish, ignorant, self-willed manmukh has forgotten birth and death.
gur raakhay say ubray sachaa sabad veechaar. ||7||
Those whom the Guru has protected are saved, contemplating the True Word of the Shabad. ||7||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
It is easy to run all day after busy things and never stop to notice what matters.
But those who are sheltered by the Guru are steadied and safe. Turning the true words over in the heart, they find solid ground under their feet.
Slow down enough to be held, and you find solid ground.
Dhandhai dhaavat, chasing worldly affairs, leaves one bound. Gur raakhe se ubray: the Guru's protection saves. The busy world forgets that life is short; the Guru's people stop and think on the True Word.
