Even the greatest beings the old stories name are made bright by the Name.
Every creature, every corner of sky and earth, is lit by the same one Light, Yours. All comfort and all freedom live in the Name and in the words of the teaching. So I keep the True Name in my heart. Without the Naam, no one is set free; Nanak says, hold to the Truth and cross over.
One Light shines in everything, and the Name holds all comfort and freedom.
The verse names Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, great beings from Hindu tradition. It says they are raised up by thinking on the Name. They are named with honor, not pushed aside.
Then it widens to everything. Jantaa jot tumaaree — all living beings carry Your Light. The sky, the deep places below, every way life is born, and speech itself are lit by the same Light.
Sabh sukh mukat — all comfort and all freedom — live in the Name and in the Guru's words. So the speaker keeps the True Name in the heart.
Think of one sun lighting every window in a whole city. Each window looks different, but the light is the same. The song ends with hope. Holding to the Truth, Nanak says, you cross over to the other side.
How would you treat the world if you saw one Light shining in everything?
