Granting His Grace, He has protected me; I have found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

My tongue lovingly chants the Lord's Name; this love is so sweet and intense! ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By grace I was kept safe, and I found the Sangat.

Now my tongue delights in the Naam, and the love of it is sweet and deep, like honey that keeps getting sweeter.

Kept safe by grace and held in the Sangat, the heart sings the sweet Naam.
The deeper layer

Gratitude comes first: kar anoograhu raakh leeno — granting grace, the One kept me safe — and bha-i-o saadhoo sang, I found the Sangat. The result overflows on the tongue: har naam ras rasnaa uchaaray, the Naam chanted with delight, its color misat goorhaa, sweet and deep. A settled, thankful joy sets the key.

The Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — is where the Naam comes alive on the tongue, the way a song sounds fuller when a whole room sings it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feel so grateful for that you want to say it out loud?
