A Sweetness That Never Wears Off

maati-aa har ras meh raatay tis bahurh na kabhoo a-ukheevanaa. ||6||
Imbued and intoxicated with the sublime essence of the Lord, this experience will never wear off again. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Once the heart is filled with the sweetness of the One,

that joy never wears off; it only deepens.

Some sweetness only deepens instead of fading.
The deeper layer

Once the heart tastes the sweetness of the One, the joy never wears off.

Maati-aa means filled up, happily dizzy. Raatay means dyed deep, like cloth soaked in color. Many good feelings fade. A sugar rush ends in a crash. This joy rests on something steady, so it never drops into a low.

Think of a color soaked all the way into a shirt. You can wash it again and again, and it stays.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of happiness lasts, and what kind wears off?
