A Short Stay in a Green Field

aithai go-ilrhaa din chaaray.
In this green pasture, the mortal stays only a few days.
khayl tamaasaa DhunDhookaaray.
He plays and frolics in utter darkness.
baajee khayl ga-ay baajeegar ji-o nis supnai bhakhlaa-ee hay. ||9||
The jugglers have staged their show, and left, like people mumbling in a dream. ||9||

In plain words

I am like a traveler resting in a green field for just a few days.

The show of the world plays for a while and then is over, the way a dream fades when morning comes.

So I want to treasure this short, precious visit and not sleepwalk my way through it.

Life is a short, precious visit, worth staying awake for.
The deeper layer

The green pasture and the juggler's show (a brief play, a dream) are classic reminders that life is short. What remains is a tender call to treasure a short, precious stay.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small everyday thing you would like to notice and treasure more?
