The Golden Age, When Hearts Were Full of Truth

ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
satjug sat santokh sareeraa.
In the Golden Age of Truth, Truth and contentment filled the bodies.

Truth was pervasive, Truth, deep, profound and unfathomable.

sachaa saahib sach parkhai saachai hukam chalaa-ee hay. ||3||
The True Lord appraises the mortals on the Touchstone of Truth, and issues His True Command. ||3||

In plain words

In the first golden time, people's hearts were full of truth and quiet contentment.

Truth was everywhere, deep and steady as the sea.

And the One, true through and through, gently measured each heart against real goodness, guiding all things along.

There is an age in every heart where truth and contentment can fill it up.
The deeper layer

Here the four ages (yugas) begin. The Golden Age (satjug) is a time of truth and contentment. The picture of the ages comes from older Hindu teaching, and here it is filled with truthful living.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like inside when you tell the truth and feel calm about it?
