This Precious Day Is Worth Treasuring

boojhhu har jan satgur banee.
O humble servants of the Lord, understand the Word of the Guru's Bani.
ayhu joban saas hai dayh puraanee.
This youth, breath and body shall pass away.
aaj kaal mar jaa-ee-ai paraanee har jap jap ridai Dhi-aa-ee hay. ||5||
O mortal, you shall die today or tomorrow; chant, and meditate on the Lord within your heart. ||5||

In plain words

Understand the True Guru's Word, dear friend.

This young strength, this breath, this body are all on loan and will one day pass.

Since my days here are precious and few, let me hold the One in my heart right now, today.

This day, this breath, this body are precious gifts on loan, worth treasuring now.
The deeper layer

Youth, breath and body all pass, today or tomorrow. So this present day is worth treasuring: hold the One in the heart now, today.

A Question to Sit With

What is one good thing you could do today, rather than putting it off?
