Ask the Ones Who Have Found Peace

gur peh mukat daan day bhaanai.
Liberation comes from the Guru; He grants this blessing by the Pleasure of His Will.
jin paa-i-aa so-ee biDh jaanai.
He alone knows the way, who obtains it.
jin paa-i-aa tin poochhahu bhaa-ee sukh satgur sayv kamaa-ee hay. ||10||
So ask one who has obtained it, O Siblings of Destiny. Serve the True Guru, and find peace. ||10||

In plain words

Freedom is a gift from the Guru, given in the Guru's own kind time.

The one who has found it knows the way.

So I ask those who have found it, and serving the True Guru, I find peace too.

One good way to find peace is to learn from those who already have it.
The deeper layer

Liberation is a gift (daan) granted by grace and timing; the practical counsel is to learn from those who have already found peace. Wisdom is passed hand to hand.

A Question to Sit With

Who is a calm, peaceful person you could learn from?
