The ocean of fire spits out waves of searing flames; the self-willed manmukhs fall into it, and are roasted there. ||9||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Ahead lies a river of fire, its flames full of poison, and it must be crossed.
No one else is there; the soul goes on all alone.
That ocean of fire throws up waves of flame, and those led only by their own minds fall in and are scorched.
What lies ahead, each soul crosses alone.
Ahead lies a river of fire, and no one else goes along; each soul crosses it alone. The manmukh, the one led only by their own mind, falls into its waves of flame.
A Question to Sit With
If no one else could come along, what would you want to carry with you?
