Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Let me loosen my grip on wanting, anger, and unkindness.

Let me set down proud, tangled affairs and clinging.

When I take shelter with the True Guru, I am carried safely, like crossing wide, rough waters to a calm shore.

Sheltered by the Guru, I am carried across rough waters to a calm shore.
The deeper layer

The world-ocean (bhavjal) is wide, rough water, and shelter with the Guru is the boat that carries one across. Desire, anger and pride are pulls to loosen one's grip on, gently.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel carried and safe when things feel rough?
