Set Down the Heavy Load, Step Into the Boat

mastak bhaar kalar sir bhaaraa.
He carries the heavy load of sins on his forehead and head.
ki-o kar bhavjal langhas paaraa.
How can he cross the terrifying world-ocean?
satgur bohith aad jugaadee raam naam nistaaraa hay. ||8||
From the very beginning of time, and throughout the ages, the True Guru has been the boat; through the Lord's Name, He carries us across. ||8||

In plain words

Old heavy habits can sit on us like a load we did not mean to carry.

How do we cross such a wide, daunting ocean weighed down like that?

The answer has been here since the beginning: the True Guru is a boat, and the Naam lightens us and carries us gently over.

Set the heavy load down and step into the boat that has waited all along.
The deeper layer

Mastak bhaar kalar sir bhaaraa — a heavy load sits on the head. How can anyone cross the bhavjal, the world-ocean, like that? The True Guru is the bohith, the boat, here aad jugaadee, from the very beginning, and the Naam carries us over.

A Question to Sit With

What is a heavy feeling you could set down before crossing into tomorrow?
