Verse 11 of 16

Words Ring True When the Heart Sees Clearly

sabh ko bolai aapan bhaanai.
Everyone speaks as they please.
manmukh doojai bol na jaanai.
The self-willed manmukh, in duality, does not know how to speak.
anDhulay kee mat anDhlee bolee aa-ay ga-i-aa dukh taahaa hay. ||11||
The blind person has a blind and deaf intellect; coming and going in reincarnation, he suffers in pain. ||11||

In plain words

Everyone talks in their own way, saying whatever comes to mind.

A heart caught in feeling separate from everything often speaks without seeing clearly.

When the inner eyes and ears stay closed, a person keeps circling in confusion — but open the heart, and words and steps ring true.

Words ring true when the heart underneath them sees clearly.
The deeper layer

Sabh ko bolai aapan bhaanai — everyone speaks as they please. The manmukh, caught in doojai (the sense of being separate), does not know how to speak, and a mind with closed inner eyes and ears keeps coming and going in pain. When the heart opens, words and steps ring true.

A Question to Sit With

When have your words come out best — when you were rushing, or when you saw clearly?
