His stock is safe, and his capital is safe and sound. The noose of Death is cut away from around his neck. ||10||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Deals built on what is false only end in loss.
But the trades of the Gurmukh are pleasing to the One.
Its treasure stays safe and whole — and even the old fear of death is quietly lifted away.
The honest trade keeps your treasure safe and lifts away your fear.
Kaachee sa-udee totaa aavai — false dealing ends in loss; the gurmukh's trades please the One. The poonjee (stock) stays whole, and jam kaa faahaa, death's noose, falls away — the old fear of death quietly lifted.
A Question to Sit With
What is worth more in the long run: a quick unfair win, or an honest one?
