sun sun aakhai kaytee banee.
Many listen and listen, and speak the Guru's Bani.
sun kahee-ai ko ant na jaanee.
Listening and speaking, no one knows His limits.
jaa ka-o alakh lakhaa-ay aapay akath kathaa buDh taahaa hay. ||6||
He alone is wise, unto whom the unseen Lord reveals Himself; he speaks the Unspoken Speech. ||6||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Many listen to the Word and many speak it.
Yet no amount of listening or speaking ever reaches the far edge of the One — it is boundless.
True wisdom dawns when the unseen One quietly reveals itself, and then the heart speaks what words can barely hold.
No amount of words can ever reach the edges of the One.
Sun sun aakhai — listening and listening, speaking and speaking — still no one finds the One's ant (limit). Wisdom (budh) comes when the unseen One (alakh) reveals itself; then the seeker speaks the akath, what words can barely hold.
A Question to Sit With
What is something so big or deep that words can only point at it?
